Hi. I am trying to fit a replacement pendant light fitting on a like for like basis. Sounds simple, but the new fitting is from Next, and the instructions state that I should use the in line connection block supplied, lining up the wires using the usual colours. Unfortunately, there are three wires in clear plastic sleeves, and a further earth wire from the ceiling fitting. How do I know which wire to connect to which ? Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks, Mark

usually these fittings have L, N and E tags on the wires. what type of lamps_ bayonet or screw? with bayonet L and N can be either way round, but with screw, the L must go to the centre contact on the lamp. check with multimeter on ohms.

I've put this in the DIY forum for you, maybe you can attach a picture below so we can see the wiring in the fitting.
