Need a bit of help guys!
Does anybody have any idea what sort of equipment is required to protect and monitor a generator against;
Loss of excitation
Overvoltage
Unbalanced current operation

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks

Hey Leccy.

All the above situations you have metioned have specifically designed relays to protect against them which can all be found in the main control panel of the genset.

C.T's monitor current flow and any large unbalances are then sent to the relay which inturn cuts the field between rotor and stator to prevent damage to the alternator.

Overvoltage is protected against by an AVR, which monitors voltage and ensures it remains within the set tolerances by increasing/decreasing engine speed to suit.

I've attached a link with examples of various protection relays for you to look at.
