If they were both at 45 degrees from vertical, would the tops of the slots have to slant the same way or opposite ways ?

I do prefer the 45 degree but both pointing the same way.

Hummph, my socket plugs or plug sockets are lucky things if the're level.

they are useful the only problem is most dont let you do ir even though they state in instructions they will pass ir tests.
