Some inverters are provided with GFDI and some are not. Is this a regulatory thing dependent upon the country of use intended for the product?

transformerless inverters need it, galvanically isolated inverters don't because they're protected by virtue of the DC being galvanically isolated from earth.

Hi Gavin

Do you have an example of such an inverter? I always thought that a GFDI must have a permanently grounded pole (Pos or neg) on the DC, where is Riso monitoring (like in SMA centrals) use a Bender relay, using PE as a reference point.

Thanks

Meeb

galv isoltated inverters would be stuff like the old SMA sunnyboy SB series, but also NEDAP's power Router hybrid battery inverter is galv isolated.
