Help 17th or Test and Inspect.

Help 17th or Test and Inspection. Ihave some money problems at the moment. I have to choose between doing the 3 day course to update to the 17th edition or he full test and inspection certificate. Which should I do and why?

The 17th as you must have this to enrol on a scheme amongst other things.

Ok then lets put it this way,

If you join a scheme you are required to be up to date with the regs ie 17th or get it within a certain time of joining.

You do not need the 2391 to enrol on any scheme, if thats what you are wanting to do.

I am a rather old spark 15th edition. Graded as electrician by JIB. To be regraded to approved I need the 2391 or equivalent.To do the 2391 will cost app 700. the 3day update to the 17th is app 500. The JIB / ECA both state that you dont require the 17th edition to do the 2391 but it is getting that employers are requiring the 17th. Do you think that the 2391 would cover this requirement considering that to pass the 2391 test and inspect you need a thorough working knowledge of all current regs applicable?

things have changed from the 16th so they sure have from the 15th

questions asked now on the 2391 are not the same as the 16th

I would suggest 17th ed also.

Agree 17th esp if you dont have 16th the regs from 15th-17th have changed quite a bit ! pitty if you did you would get away with the update.

I would say do the 17th

This would be an required qualification by all of the schemes I would expect
2391 test and inspection may be required by napit only

The 2391 enables the testing of installations to compare to the current regs,so it would seem to be common semse for the 17th to be aquired in order to do so

This is what they say but speak to some collages and unless you have the 17th they won't let you do 2391.
