Help needed to understand an alternator load problem

for testing alternators you can use your meters but there is a chance that you could damage the meters.
I highly recommend using a battery /alternator tester instead.
this type of meter is specifically designed for this use.
I got mine from a retired mechanic and have used it a lot.
