Hi.
I'm looking to go it alone as it were, and I'm looking for any advice on how to acquire a decent pricing structure. I know this will probably evolve over time but I'll be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction with regard to some sort of help with this. I've only ever worked for very large companies so I have not really been involved in pricing. Is there a 'general rule of thumb' used or something similar in printed form maybe? If not I'd appreciate any help with how I might find out. Maybe someone could give me some type of generic pricing structure if one exists?
Thanks for your help. :seeya:

Cost materials, add 20%, work out the time it will take, then multiply the hours by your hourly rate. For rewires you could work it out on a price per point system. Say £50 for sockets/switches etc. £90 for cooker and shower points.

You could phone a few electricians in your area (or get a relative to) and ask them to quote on some straightforward jobs. That will give you an idea of what the general hourly rate is in your area.
I charge £35 per hour, but I know there are areas where it's nearer to £20. Once you've got an established client-base, you will find that people just ask you to do the job and bill them afterwards.
It's really all about experience, but we all get it wrong sometimes and take a hit.
Best of luck.
