This has been on my mind for a while.

I've read about taking apprenticeships, but is it even possible to survive on that low a wage if you're not a teen living with parents?

in a word, NO. you can't survive on apprenticeship wages. evening classes at local college 2365 level 2 and 3, meanwhile working as normal daytime, either current job or better as an electrician's mate to get practical experience.

Is is difficult to balance between working/learning?
I'm guessing it depends entirely on the person

Also have similar question

evening courses at college 2 days a week while working full time elsewhere (not in Electrican trade).
will you have enough time to study and do the assignments etc?

what about the 4 weeks intense course some places offer, from what I’ve read they get you qualified but you will Struggle when you go out on a job ?

I went back to college once I was made redundant in late 2017. Got a part time job alongside college. Apprenticeships are only good for school leavers..

@AAGT I wouldn't even look into the 4 weeks intense courses. The amount I had to learn/study over 2 years cannot be crammed into 4 weeks. Whats the time table like for the night courses? I think they're longer than 2 years right? but you would usually do the assignments in college so you should have time. Studying part you would have to make time for, weekends maybe?
