Hi, someone wants an electric hob of rating 6Kw fitted in a static home thats feed by a 40a MCB there is one 32a ring final, two 6a lighting and one 16a oven circuit, after applying diversity the installation is already over its maximum demand a little without adding the hob.

It is unlikely that they will use anywhere near full 32a of their ring final and more than 2 burners of their hob and their 2.35kw electric oven at full power.

The hob and oven are likely to draw 17 amps on average if used together as a guess plus the kettle on the ring momentarily adds the additional 13a this equates to a load of 30a.

Lights after 66% diversity are 3.96a each but more likely will draw under 1a on average.

Leaving just about 8a safety margin roughly, without the 32a ring added but again the regs don’t allow diversity on the first ring final.

The owner has had 2 sparkys round already and both did not give a definite answer. Can someone please sled some light on this.

How is the mobile home fed? Knowing the layout of the supply may allow other options.

I hope there is a nice big table in there, for all that cooked food :winkiss:

in this situation, volt drop on the supply cable ( often a 6mm SWA ) may be of more concern than overload.

Neff do a 13A induction hob now and I'm sure other manufacturers probably do now aswell, if they haven't bought the unit already it might be something worth looking into to save all this hassle
