Could this really be a problem?
If it were a gas cooker the co2 output from the cooker is acceptable if no hood is in place or not being used and thus remains in the room. thus no dangerous gas to come back through a window or well up in a corner.
If electric cooker non at all obviously.
The output from the extractor would be mainly steam from cooking in either case.
I think its ok but please correct me if I'm wrong as I would like to know the correct school of thought too.
On the tip of hoods and holes.
Any one know what is acceptable with regard to drilling in proximity to joists to vent out?
I.e never much room above considering the hood has to be 750mm above surface.
I try to place the hole between joists so the structure is not impaired below a joist with a hole.
If the hole had to be near the ceiling and there was a joist directly above?????
I think this could be a good point of call:

I know you`re not supposed to core drill within 150mm of a lintel, and there are regs regarding flues I think
