4 outside LED bulkheads trip Mcb however when connected via an extension plugged into the ring they work fine. IRs fine Mcb rating and curve correct. In rush current negligible length to 1st light 5 metres overall length of the circuit 10 metres. What's wrong?

TL;DR
LED Lights
What breaker is in use?
is it a dedicated circuit or part of the lighting circuit?

inrush. upgrade MCB to a type C. even maybe a 10A.

Sorry to disappoint but it is defo an Mcb. I have tried putting another lighting load on this Mcb (swapped from an existing circuit) and it works fine. Thanks for anyone trying to sort this it really is helpful.
What is the total load?

Typically a 6A B MCB should be good to 300W or so simultaneously switched.

How is it controlled? Is it an arc-y switch, if so have you tried a new switch?

If it is a relay then a zero-crossing SSR would greatly reduce inrush, but obviously cannot be used for safe isolation.

however when connected via an extension plugged into the ring they work fine.
Does the mcb activate instantaneously or after a few seconds?
Where did you connected the extension lead into the circuit? Its possible if disconnecting at the fittings you have eliminated a faulty cable supplying them!
Did you do L-N when doing IR test and not just L-E?
Its possible that through the extension lead plugged in to socket on 32A mcb on RFC and 13A 1362 in plug top that it wont trip.
Is the circuit not protected by RCD?

Hello DefyG,

Mcb trips instantly, connected the extension on the lighting tails in the CU so proving the supply cable to the 1st light, IRs taken with the lights disconnected at each connection local box L/N L/e N/e 200+Meg, Individual lights checked on a flying lead and with all 4 connected, the circuit is on a split board each half RCD Protected. Other things tried - re routed the outgoing supply cable away from the intelligent meter, and longer supply lead to 1st light also tried the supply from the alterative side of the CU.
