Hey everyone!

New here, and been reading a few bits online without being a member so decided to sign up!
I'm after a bit of advice, so my situation is I'm currently a bench electrician, fixing inverters and stiff for buses (auto electrician some would say), however I'm studying in the evenings and just passed my level 2 in the c&g 2365. I'm now doing my level 3, but trying to get into the trade or get a trainee role as such, it's proving to be impossible for me, maybe because I'm 25 with no experience but it's becoming rather demoralizing. I was wondering if anyone had any tips? Or what sort of roles I should maybe pursue? I want to avoid agencies ideally, but it's looking like my only hope.
Hope you're all well whoever reads and I am thankful for any advice given :)

Probably best to get out there and apply to agencies. Even as a labourer. Sort your CSCS if you haven’t already and go for it. Other opportunities will come up. It’s that initial experience that’s key and what potential employers will look for.
Once you have that experience, offers will fly in.

Hey Josh, I'm in the same boat.. I know agencies are a pain (especially umbrella companies) but use them if you can, just to make the contacts. Once you have the contacts other opportunities can open up. Good luck!

dont lose faith mate I joined the industry at 38, went to college as an apprentice/adult trainee. I guess not many companies see longevity in people who are older but it does happen and its the best thing ive done so being 25 with no experience is nothing!

Josh do not give up. In this game and at the stage you are at it is very difficult and frustrating. As above, Jim has given great advice. Sign up with an agency or two, work hard, prove yourself and hopefully get taken on??? (don't chase the carrot on a stick though. Leave that for the donkeys lol).

ps. Good luck with your Lvel 3. Give it your full attention and it will pay you back in time trust me.
