This person requires some work. They've hopefully explained their skills and qualifications and what area they're in. Otherwise, what's the bloody point?

Hello. My name is David and I am in the process of retraining to become an electrician, something I have wanted to do for a while. Finally I have done it, and have now completed most of the required qualifications, so am now looking for a position that will give me the practical experience and enable me to complete the NVQ work portfolio.

I have completed the 2365 L2/L3, 18th Edition, Part P, Fundamental Test & Inspection, EV Charging. I also have an HNC in Electrical & Electronic Eng & BEng Electronics & Communications Eng and have plenty experience of real world trouble shooting experience of both hardware & software from my previous jobs.

I have my own tools, megger, and vehicle. I am currently based in Fife, but would relocate for the right opportunity. I am primarily concerned with gaining the right experience, so will also consider unpaid work if it provides good experience.

Hi Dave.

How are you getting on with your search for experiance? Have you bee successful?
I am not going to ask you for tips. I know this is a dog eat dog situation on the job market.

Cheers.

No success so far, though to be fair I haven't been looking much over the last couple of months due to family commitments that would have made working away from home tricky. Thankfully the commitments have now come to an end, so back to the search.

Thanks for asking.

I have been searching for an experience in commercial sector but nobody wants free pair of hands to do free labour. Appears you ether have to be an apprentice or fully qualified spark for anyone to even look at you. Its ether no response at all or "come back when you are fully qualified" or " I will have too many hands on a job if i allow it" (WTF?) sort of answer. So this is how my experience looks like so far. I am about to quit trying. How long can you stay excited an positive when all you get is door slammed in your nose.

I hope you will have more luck.

If it was easy everyone would be doing it. I've been in a similar position and know how disheartening it feels.

Not sure what to tell you, but if you want to do this then you'll keep plodding on and eventually find that opening. Ultimately it's up to you to decide how badly you want to find an opportunity.

Dave.

I am glad you agree. Can you cast some light as to why that is please? It will save me frustration knowing rationale behind it.

Thanks

There's a few reasons volunteers can be a nightmare.
Liability can play a big part in it, insurance policies may not cover voluntary workers and it could get expensive to get them covered.

You have no control over what hours a volunteer works or what they do/don't do for the hours they do work.

If a volunteer makes a mistake, wastes materials, breaks a tool or anything like that then who pays for fixing it?

If they suffer an injury or get sick whilst working then that could open up a whole other can of worms for the employer.
