Hi!
basically I'm wanting to qualify as a electrician, long story short, I studied plumbing at college got work, then decided I didn't like it.

But luckily I'm 20 so I can change career easily enough. Would like to qualify ASAP though.

I've rang spoke to my local college etc, They have basically gave me two options.
(They were rubbish at explaining it all to me :( )

option 1 -
Part p
17th edition
and inspection and testing.

All well and good but only covers domestic, and can only work for myself?

Or option 2 -
The new C&G 2365 course, not sure what this exactly covers, college were very brief with me.
Then eventually onto the level 3 course
and 17th and inspection and testing.

Basically I want advice on what to go for/The steps I should take.

Looked for a apprenticeship, really hard to come by so I need to do this myself.

And don't want to make a mistake and waste my hard earned money, as I have to fund this myself and these courses arn't cheap especially to someone my age who can only earn peanuts it seems.

I'm sure you get loads of these but any help what so ever would be brilliant. thanks in advanced

kez.

option 2 is best, and u would fall under the age for funding up to 24 I think. there is all types of company's out there go to industrial parks, there could be company you never heard off, not sure what is in Leicester

sign up with companies like jtl.

the problem is funding drops at 18 and over so some companies wont take on an adult aprentice.

this is where jtl and other such companies come in, they tend to know alot of local companies and can help

Just spoke to college, luckily I got a old lecturer that liked me and gave me time of day! He said for to come in monday 18th for a talk to him and services and we'll decided best route but I'm definately taking this 2365 course.. And at same time been advised to do 17th edition. So when level 2 is complete I can do my inspection amd testing and try to get a employer for level 3.
But he's said for level 2, and this new qualification i shouldnt worry to much about a apprenticeship but be great if i could get onto one
