Discuss Markings on a CU Main Switch? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi Guys

Just purchased a CU containing a Main Switch from a reputable company, but having an issue with the Main Switch. Am in discussions with the supplier but would like to be a bit surer of my facts.

The switch is stamped BSEN60947-3 125A 240V. Terminals are well marked. But no CE mark, no Maker's mark and no Type/Part no. Surely this information should be included?

I don't have a copy of the standard and BSI wants £234 for me to have it!
Can anyone out there with a copy tell me what the requirements for marking are please?

Can you post a pic?

Have you tried contacting Lewden directly?

I have, but they've run out of stock so can't check at the moment! (how convenient or am I just cynical and paranoid?). The switch is a single phase changeover switch for connecting a standby supply. Loads of outlets (e.g. Denmans, SRK Equipment Company on Ebay) are selling them selling them!

But I really want to have a word with someone who can tell me what the standard BS EN 60947-3 says about marking.

Cheers!

In the OP you say it is a main switch in a CU but now it's a changeover switch?
