This person requires some work. They've hopefully explained their skills and qualifications and what area they're in. Otherwise, what's the bloody point?
Hello, serving military electrician living in Essex currently. I have leave to take and would be willing to work to gain a little experience. Or as an alternative if anybody knows of any short courses that could help. Cheers.

Thanks for the reply.

Course wise, I was wondering if there are any short courses such as PAT testing for example. The sort of courses that could help bolster my CV when it comes to leaving the army.

Work wise I was wondering if anybody in the Essex area or north west needed an electricians mate for a week or two weeks work.

What quals do you hold already?

TBH PAT is a waste of money now as the sticker brigade undercuts anyone with an ounce of integrity and professionalism...

However the following are handy to have and some employers insist on them:
  • First aid at work
  • Asbestos awareness
  • Manual handling
Also nice to have:
  • Abrasive wheels
  • Cable avoidance training
  • Fire alarm installation
  • Emergency lighting
  • Lightning and surge protection
TBH the list is endless and all depends on what sector of work you're aiming at.

you could always look at manufacturers. Given your military background you could always approach the likes of BAE systems or maybe even the contractors at the airports,or big industrial sites etc.. for a bit of experience. might be worth looking into the fire alarm training, if you look for manufacturer training that could be a place to start, they often offer courses for free.
