Hi,

I was having an disagreement with a work mate, a client has been told that their bonding (gas) is in the wrong place, (it is).
This is the only job we have to do there and obviously after moving it and carrying out the required continuity tests, would you issue a minor works certificate,

He says no need to issue one at all? or at east not fully filled in, just list detail the test carried out and no more?

I say its prudent to issue one and carry out earth loop impendance too, but he says there is no need!

Regards

I think issuing a minor works certificate is very reasonable as it is a record of alterations to the existing installation and demonstrates that appropriate inspection and testing in accordance with bs7671 has been carried out.
I would expect to see the lads I supervise complete a minor works for this type of work also.

What's your company's policy on paperwork for Customers /their own records?
What paperwork has the client asked for, or if it's part of a contract what are in the terms of it re paperwork?

Well that's the thing really, we are starting to get more and more work just moving gas bonding, down to meter fitters I assume, so if we aren't altering or extending the earth. My mate argues no cert needed, hence we don't need to do Ze

But I disagree

When carrying out any electrical work it is prudent to carry out some rudimentary inspection and testing even just at source to ensure no safety issues are present.

You could issue a MWC but you could also list this and any test results on your invoice/job sheet.

does your mate fide a horse?
No but he might Ride one Tel

Altering an existing MNWC required

I've nothing against a cert being issued (but it may be more appropriate to make up your own rather than use an MEIWC), but I don't see the relevance of recording Ze to installing main protective bonding. The Earthing conductor hasn't been altered.

I think what denotes any paperwork,is who and why, deemed the bonding to be non-compliant.
Can i ask if this is plumbing related?
