Buoyed on by my first successful ceiling rose replacement, I’m now doing a second one, but have come across a slightly different scenario.

In this ceiling rose there are more wires than previously, so my question is, is it ok to place multiple wires into a single connector in the new light fitting? Or should I use Wago’s for all wires coming from the ceiling/switch and then joining them to the ceiling fitting connections?

Depends whether they are long enough to reach the new fitting. The three reds need to go into a separate Wago not connected to the light. At a glance I would say polarity is incorrect for the connected flexible cable, the two blacks are probably neutral and the single black the line but testing would prove this. If it makes it easier use Wagos on them all just don't shove them up into the ceiling void.

Thanks westward. When you Say the flexible cable is probably incorrect polarity do you mean the brown and blue of the current pendant wiring Is connected the wrong way around? If so, can you advise why it still works? I’m just keen to understand. And another question please. If I need cable to connect the wagos to the new ceiling connectors what type of cable should I buy? Finally why shouldn’t I shove it up the void? Thanks in advance.
