Hi Guys,
Sorry if I am asking something that has come up on previous posts,I have just done a board change (split load RCD) in my house and run a new SWA supply to my garage including a garage CU and hope that this work satisfies the NAPIT assessor.Any advice or suggestions would be welcome.I assume that I will have to complete an installation cert for the board change and a seperate one for the garage?Does anybody know what type of questions I might be asked or any areas that I should read up on.
Many thanks

Have you notified building control about the board change? And yes, you need to do an EIC.

They can ask you anything really, but a good place to start would be:
current carrying capacities
RCD trip times
zones for running cables
'special locations' and zones.

But they really could ask anything.

Make sure you know your tester inside out, and can perform all tests straight away. Also make sure the batteries are charged!

MOST IMPORTANT get the tea on and some decent biscuits. Without this crucial step, you will fail.

Thanks Rocker,
I haven't notified buliding control as Napit told me on my initial enquiry to them that it would not be neccesary as they would be inspecting it.

Fact is you are legally required to notify LABC NAPIT do not legislate, having said that no one has failed an assessment because they did not notify LABC. It is important however that you are aware of what you should do.

Good luck

Chris

At least you took the safe route where would you be if you failed the assessment and hadnt told LABC not exactly a good start:eek:

job i did for my elecsa never informed Building control..!! elecsa said i can notify them via elecsa if i pass..!

if i fail however i think thats a different can of worms..!

They all appear to take the same approach except for building control its not that they just want the money for more or less nothing, its more a case of they want the money for more or less nothing.
