Anybody used / using nest protect alarms ?
Presently working on a house extension and need to fit smoke alarms and according to planning dept need to link to new alarms in living area downstairs and to landing on first floor also which would be difficult to get link cables to ! I thought smoke alarm rules would only apply to new extension as the only alarm there at present is one battery op kidde one halfway up the staircase between floors hanging on a nail.

It depends on what LBC say, if it's a major change of the building, they may well specify installation of alarms for the rest of the building, therefore mains powered and interlinked. Well that applies to England building regs, not sure about Wales and definitely not sure about Jersey!

Why not considered one of the forums sponsor Aico radio linked alarms, as well?

Sound Midwest, usually always use Aico with the RF bases if hassle to interconnect them as you know what you're getting with Aico quality but it's a simple extension and two different guys in LABC had conflicting decisions this afternoon. Client also doesn't want to pay to have 3-4 alarms only the one in new bedroom extension. We'll see how planning take to that before I do anything !
