Think its time that the nic/elecsa/napit teamed up to make a factual consumer type program about this to show the population,obviously a lot will switch channels but if just 10% of the terrestrial viewers watched then word might spread a little,or then again maybe not.but something hit me earlier watching this,what do we all pay £430 a year for?????answers on a postcard

Could do with educating some sparkies on it too. Part P only affects England & Wales - I'd never hear of it when I went to London in 2008 and I doubt I'm alone. TBH most of the sparks I worked with in London hadn't heard of it either. What chance has the consumer got really?

When it comes to Gas - everyone knew of Corgi and then Gas Safe. And not many try and do there own. Something like £175+VAT to be registered, that's value for money.

I only found out about part P when I did some work on a council house.It took me a long time and a lot of internet searching to figure out what it was all about.Been registered 2 years now with ELECSA.

Yep...lot of errors on the program,when something like this is aired on which we have enough knowledge to pick holes in it.... it makes you wonder how many programs on the telly which we have no knowlege of and take as fact...are equally full of holes.

May be the solution to avoid confusion is to get rid of Part P and the schemes that register everyone who applies and get back to basics and go down the Corgi / Gas Safe route that is black and white and doesn't cause confusion

Well, so let's do better. I know a few commisioning editors (one of the perks of the ex job) so I'll see what their thoughts are. '999 Tradesmen' (or somesuch) - pretty cheap to make TV following an assortment of bona-fide experienced tradesmen (even plumbers) around for a few weeks as we come rushing to the aid of Mrs Jones and her husbands failed attempt to change a light fitting. I reckon it could actually catch on - seriously! The viewing public likes nothing better than to be entertained by the misfortunes of others, and it would be a great way to present the other side of the story and correct some facts.

Can anyone think of a downside?

agreed today, can't see how I loose, I will be about a days' pay up when I renew.


They agreed to register me for free for the remaining months I am with another scheme too, which was sensible.
