Newly qualified electrician

I have just served my time as an electrician in a chemical plant, I feel like the hourly rate that I have been offered is lower than the going rate, just wondering if anyone could give me any advice? They’ve offered me £8.49 an hour.
The company I work for isn’t JIB registered so don’t have to follow their rates.
The qualification I have gained is EAL Level 3 NVQ extended diploma in installation and commissioning.

I'd want an absolute minimum of £14.42 per hour (30K).

Thanks for your replies, I’m trying to gain some kind of evidence to take to them to validate my point, I think they think I’m being a spoiled brat asking for more money...

Tell them to shove there job anything under £20hr is an insult these days.

*Electricians mates on £12hr-£14hr on last few jobs I've been on.

*Labourers on the site I'm on now are on £13hr

To be brutally honest, they cant value you much at all to offer you that. I think you should tell your firm that you are thinking about it to give you some time. Then apply for some other jobs. Then when you have been pleasantly surprised and accepted one, take great delight in your exit interview telling them why you are leaving.

Out of interest, what does a good experienced spark earn on your current firm?

That’s the worst part, he’s on 40k+ p/a and does the bare minimum..
