Hi all,
Would a temporary consumer unit for a building site in my own property classify as a major job, obviously from that consumer unit will be several socket circuits and a lighting circuit?
Would they do as minor jobs?

would i need to inform the LABC?

Cheers in advance

Ryan

how are you connecting the temp supply?
as far as im aware, they classify major as notifiable work(new circuit etc) and minor as non-notifiable( change a light in a bedroom)

"obviously from that consumer unit will be several socket circuits and a lighting circuit?"

I'd say you've answered your own question, because the new CU, will have new circuits, so it makes it notifiable!

Tricky i would say as its only temp.

But yes, if in doubt, notify it.

Dont forget to check the regs with regard to Temp supplies and earthing arrangements.

My opinion is it wouldn't be enough to show.

Best to ring the scheme provider you're thinking of going with and get their views on it.

You may not have to involve building control as some schemes allow you to self notify after successful passing of the assessment, you need to be confident you will pass though.

The supply would be via a henley block, 25mm tails, 16mm earth out to a block and then to an earth rod buried in a pit... making a TT system...
Sure this would be suitable,
With regards to notifying the LABC they are involved as a rewire was on the cards due to an extension and new roof...

As the house is basically a shell but all services are still in tact, I could mount a proper consumer unit I suppose, do the bonding as per and just have a few circuits installed.... No longer a temporary supply...

Does a complete rewire constitute as a minor and a major job at once or do they have to be separate sites?
