Hi all very new to the site, I am looking at ways to become an electrician without going down the apprenticeship route due to age and financial commitments. My plan was to do my level 2 and 3 diploma then hopefully find a job as an electricians mate then go for the Level 3 NVQ after gaining the required level of experience. But my issue is that everywhere online seems to state that the NVQ requires you to have the 2365 (self funded) first, but colleges only seem to be teaching the 8202-30 (funded) which to my understanding wouldn't then allow me to actually do anything with once gaining the 8202, rather confusing. If anyone could help me out here it would be greatly appreciated.

Your Question is a little confusing? Reading between the threads of your question, I see a couple of problems. To be an Electrician, you actually need the practical work & experience as well as time in the classroom. The 2365 is a foundation into the basics, and covers the basics of most installations - you could actually do this course Online . The 8202 requires input from an employer and is really based around a traditional apprenticeship. I think you need to sit down and ask yourself a few questions, for example which area you you want to practice your electrical work? Domestic? Industrial? Commercial . You need practical experience - there is no magical shortcut to that. It may be you self fund the 2365 online, then try and find a company that will take you on. Are you in full-time employment at the present? Anything is possible, going back on a company I worked for they took on a 46 year old dyslexic EX farmer who wanted to qualify, he started as a labourer, he was as keen as mustard! Because he was a great bloke who was always there to help, everyone mucked in and got him through his exams with revision & practical help etc.
