guys im replacing an electric shower like for like, the old shower was 9.5 kw, but was only on a 32 a mem type 1 321 qeb mcb, i told cliant it should be protected by a 40 amp breaker, trouble is the board is oldish and i dont know what breaker to fit,,,, also no rcd protection on boaed, are there any mem rcbo that will fit that board,tanx
 
Would'nt put a 9.5Kw on a 6mm surely. Well unless the shower is bag next to the c.u etc. But gen wouldnt you use 10mm form 9kw upward. I do anyways.
 
You shouldn't really fit it without an RCD!
Also, i'd hate a RCD covering every circuit, 1 fault with a kettle and my computer goes bye bye along with all the lights too :(
But it's still safer! so go for that option if you must.
