PAT a portable oven

( DIY; qualified to PAT. ) We (a charity: Besom in Runnymede) were given a portable deLonghi oven EO12012. It failed its insulation test. I suspect that one of its elements is leaking. I opened it up and the wiring goes:

live --> timer --> element selector switch --> upper or lower element --> temperature control ( TC) --> neutral

So the Tc interrupts neutral, not live. Please: am I right that this is a fault that I must rectify (as well as the insulation) before I can pass this oven? Thank you for advice.

Leave the wiring as it is do not interfere with the manufacturer's set-up. Does your tester do a leakage test as opposed to insulation resistance?

If it were my oven, i would leave it at 100 degrees for a couple of hours before testing it.

Nothing unusual for the internal wiring of domestic appliances to switch the neutral only. I had a customer who was electrocuted because she did not realise this.
