I have fitted an independent PIR in the hall way.
When energising PIR, the light comes on and stays on.
When the sensor is activated, the light goes out???
I have wired it as to the suppliers diagram.
Is it a faulty PIR????

Hi Mick - Welcome to the forum ...

If your in active training and on a course or just about to start one you can go to our section 'Apply for access to the Training forum' and follow the instructions - we have selected Mentors to guide you and its suited ideally for the level of questioning we find from our trainee's.

In answer to the question - does your PIR have normally open N/O and normally closed N/C options if so you may find moving the wire from the N/C output to the N/O may cure your problem.

Can you give us a make and model of the PIR?

The sensor in a PIR or motion detector is actually split in two. The reason for that is it is looking to detect motion change and not average IR levels. The two halves are wired up so that they cancel each other out. If one half sees more or less IR radiation than the other, the output will swing high or low depending on the type of PIR. If your sensor is normally closed switch then when the sensor is triggered it will open the circuit cutting the supply of power to the load and vice versa. Check the sensors specification and or setting.

Welcome to the forum yarasa ... the OP has resolved the issue as stated in post 3 and we have heard nothing back since, appreciate your input either way and hope to see your contributions and/or any questions you may have :)
