Evening all,
Can anyone tell me please if there are any standard pre-work survey templates suitable for customer files and attaching to a quote out there or alternatively a link to the subject on specific points to be noted and inspected prior to any installation. Greatly appreciated.:)

If you are doing a pre work survey then you should be checking everything and asking the customer if he knows of any problems with the supply before you do the check.

Some customers will ask you to do a small job knowing they have a problem and after you have done your bit they will blame you for the other fault and try and get a freebe. Cover your own back at all times or you will be bitten.

Hi Chris, thanks for your post you appear to be helping me out with numerous items....!
I have managed to find this 'Contract Assessment Checklist on the NIC website, In your opinion do you think there should be additional areas/issues/items to check or would this be a good starter for ten? Should I be doing loop tests on all circuits to be modified/added to?

many thanks

I would check any circuit you are going to work on before you start as you may have more than one problem on the circuit and you will be blamed as for any other circuits I would do a visual on sockets switch lights on etc.

Takes a few minutes more but if it was working before you started and its not when you finish you know that its down to you and you wont get stitched up 99% of the time you dont need to do it but you will always get the one occassion where you will have wished you did.

Id design a proforma to suit yourself and leave a space on it for the customer to sign and just above the signature your payment terms.

I think its more of a case that you are posting the same time as I am on the forum any one of us will help each other thats what this place is all about and a darn site better than a lot of the other forums I have been on. For that we all have to thank the Mods for keeping it clean and friendly.

Cheers Chris, good advice, I agree why not test as much as possible on the circuits you are going to work on, then there's more chance of it being straightforward.....ha ha, there's always hope...!
Also agree with this forum over others, decent bunch, thanks to those in high places for that.:)
