Discuss Problem with Security light turning on other light in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have wired an outdoor security light with a motion sensor and have taken the feed from the hallway light using the neutral and the constant live (loop) feed. The hallway light works fine as does the security light. My problem is that when the security light is activated and turns on the hallway light is also turning on very dimly.

Any idea what could be causing this and how I can resolve this?

Thanks in advance guys.

Must be wired wrong if it's a standard tungsten filament lamp I would have thought. Remove your connections, test cables (IR and continuity) then re-connect ensuring correctly wired up. Or, as above - get a sparky in. Daz

prbably 3 plate at light and no N at switch

Could be the brown and blue of the pendant flex are the wrong way round leading the OP to believe he was connecting to the neutral, quite possibly unsleeved switched live too.
