I need to run a dedicated line for a pool pump which would be about 140 ft from the outside panel. Pump requires 14-15 amps at 2HP. Should I run a 20 or 30 amp breaker and with what gauge wire? Plan to DIY with some help and would like to use conduit. Any advice is much appreciated!

volt drop would be your main concern. get it wrong and the motor will stall and burn out. we use metric size cable. without more detail, e.g. what voltage and is it single phase? but i'd make a educated guess that you will need 8 gauge or 6 gauge. a US member (megawatt for one) will advise you better.

120V and I believe single phase? It's a plug in pump it that helps.

120V will be single phase. over here we use metric cable. 10mm is similar in size to your gauge 8. 16mm is about 6 gauge. top of my head you'll need 16mm ( 6 g.) to limit your volt drop to around 6 V, i.e 5% of 120V. this is our max. prmissible % drop for non-lighting circuits. as before, a US electrician may advise you better.

Timluts you need a 30 breaker and # 10/2 with a ground underground approved for direct burial wire and is it 240vac or 120 vac motor ?
