Rawl plug fixings allowed or not?

lately I have seen so many people (including metal screw manufacturers etc) saying Rawl plugs are now banned from fixing cables under BS7671 and BS5839-1.
Problem is people’s interpretation of the standard, and unfortunately unless you are one of the few that writes the BS you may not get exactly what was meant.
Electrical Saftey First have done some question and answers on this and low and behold you are allowed Rawl plugs for cables. Myth busted.

Exactly,I ain’t gotta a clue,everybody still using the plastic type.

There is a thread on here where, i think it was a fire service, did some tests. In the tests they did say that plastic wall plugs can malfunction in certain temps.
One day, all these people will get together and actually give us proper info, without contradicting each other..... Ok, maybe not...

You could still use them but say use metal plug every so many holes ? The same with cable ties for in trays and baskets

Rawl plugs are 100% allowed. That said they are not the best fixing just fully allowed every where as long as they are installed correctly.

BRE did a very comprehensive test on cables and supports.
