Hi

Sorry for asking a question on my first post!

I'm a plumber (OFTEC) and installing an oil fired Rayburn 480k. I can wire an S plan but no decent experience with Y plans yet.

Has anyone re-wired an old Mark I 480k to a new (Mark V?). My old Rayburn had three cables (each 3 core). In the hurry to take it out we ripped out the old cables without looking too closely (oops!)

I've established that one cable supplies the main LNE, one takes care of the room thermostat (blue, brown and green with red insulation tape - switched live?) and the third cable takes care of the hot water cylinder.

Unfortunately the Y plan does not look as if it's wired exactly in accordance to the Honeywell diagrams, but it has worked well in the past with the old machine. In addition, it looks as if the modern 480k works through a different method to the old version.

Although it's tempting to ask for a stage by stage guide to wiring, although I'd be really grateful, I'd not expect anyone to explain it in full as they could make a book and not a small profit. So, are there any pointers to make my life easier - just a few basics - or should I surrender and phone my local, super friendly sparky?

Many thanks in advance for any help forthcoming!!!

Many thanks for that - it's a diagram I've studied for quite a time recently.

I was trying to find out if this is how the Mark I is wired so all I have to do is put my 9 wires in the appropriate places on the new one.
