Which Phillips?, there are quite a few of them

Also the ones on Lightrabbit look very similar to the ones on LedHut, were they made by the same company?

Just want to bounce this as I have a job coming up in an apartment, I call it an apartment as its a bit more upmarket from a flat. They have over 50 MR16 down lights they want swapping for GU10 LEDs. I can get the GU10 fly leads pretty cheap and jb's but obviously I don't want to put sh*t bulbs in there that are going to fail within a few months.

There is so much choice out there fo GU10's now, in the past I have used the cheaper ones in smaller installs and TBH haven't really had many problems with them. But with the number of bulbs in this place it is going to get magnified if they start failing in a few months and won't look too good. I have seen in other threads that Megaman are meant to be quite good but also somebody had problems with them, also I think someone mention Ecostar as being good. But I can't work out from their website whether they sell bulbs or just fittings? Anyone got any good recommendations?

enlite from toolstation, fitted around 40 on various jobs, no problems so far.
Enlite LED 5W Dimmable GU10 Lamp Warm White 500lm A+ -
got those in my kitchen,
LED 9W COB Lamp GU10 Cool White 550lm A - Toolstation
9 watts, very bright, they been on for around a year, all still work, but they bigger than standard gu10 may not fit in fire-rated spots.

for conversion from MR16 im getting gu10 sockets with leads from cpc. good quality ones.

lap from screwfix are crap, stay away, buzzing on a dimmer a lot.

With each manufacturer offering that many different options it's more a case of suck it and see. Go to your wholesalers and speak to them would be my advice. I fit Crompton mainly...

Definitely steer clear of bargain price GU10s - very hit and miss. Some make a very nice bang when they fail as well, which is often at first power up! Daz

Are the existing fittings fire rated?

Yeah they are, they only about a year old. I don't know why the builders didn't go for LEDs in the first place considering how much the apartments cost. There are only 6 apartments worth £8m+ in total.

Pretty good chance I do a good job on one I get the other 5 as well, so we are talking over 300 LED bulbs.

I am sure I will be sick of the sight of them after one apartment though!!!!! But it's easy money so I shouldn't complain.

My local supplier suggested Megaman Professional today at about £10 a bulb, he is going to get me 1 of each type of white in to try and agreed a discount if I buy bulk.

screwfix have 5w 320lm for £2 each at mo but i normally use wholesalers suggestions, but do be careful as some are even a few mm to big

Thanks. I have been around and spent an hour showing them the different whites cool, warm and the one in between, I think it was daylight, in one of their fittings. I think they were 3000, 4500 and 6000k off the top of my head. I explained to them that it's better in the long run to pay a bit extra for reliability and they are quite happy.

I need a mixture of dimmerable and non and going to have to change their dimmer switch, so I am going to go with Varilight touch ones and persuade them to buy the remote control with the different programmable settings, which are actually quite a reasonable price. Well I suppose anything is reasonable if you can afford a house costing that much!!!!!
