I have been asked by the R&D team in the office to find out if it complies with BS7671 if we supply upto a 500W load at a distance of upto 50m (loads of upto 40w every meter - adding upto 500w), supplied by a 50v D.C. Transformer.
Situation
Each load requires 36v D.C.
Each load will be fitted with a 36v regulator to bring voltage to 36v
Power supply at origin supplies 50v D.C. with capacity of upto 500w
Using 50v on the power supply to allow for voltage drop of upto 10v (still suitable for the load!) but it is a voltage drop on the cable of 20%

Only problem I can see is with voltage drop!
Using 1.5mm (2 core) cable the voltage drop will be over the allowed at a distance of 50m
if we up it to 2.5mm it will be impossible to terminate!

Does it comply if we did the above?
