Hi all, just setting out as a self employed electrician and need to invest in some test equipment. I have the oportunity to buy a second hand Fluke 1651 (not B) at a reasonable price. Would this do the job IAW BS7671 17th ed or should I be looking at something else?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Flukes are the only testers I'm familiar with from my 2330 & 2391 courses, though not the 1651 tester. As I'm just starting out I'm needing to spend vast amounts on other kit too so if this will get me comfortably through the first year or so.....

I've heard Meggers are excellent though out of my price range at the mo, unless you know anyone selling a second hand one.

Fluke 1651 for me just remember you can not zero your leads if the batteries are low of charge .Pop new batteries in and its fine the times I have forgotten this and thought that something was wrong DOH!!

got mine off ebay megger 1552, £150 calibration going to cost an extra £57.

I'd be more than happy to pay £150 and a little more, only thing is there's one on ebay now with 24 bids and already up to £420!!! out of my range.

shop around. will be plenty more less than that. also, look on ebay for " on site calibration services. " think they sell MFTs as well.

I find the Fluke easy enough to use and think the Megger would be out of my price range, currently looking at the Fluke 1651B at £335 (not inc vat) on tinterweb
