Socket height in summer house

Hi everybody I would like some advice on the height sockets in a summer house am I right to say they need to be 450mm from ground cheers Paul

Is the summer house a new build?

You can have the sockets any height that you want.
The 450mm height malarkey is Building Regulations part M which relates to disabled access in new build houses. Not garden buildings.

I know this question has been done to death but can't find the posts. What if you extended your house and the old part had sockets under 450...would new sockets need to be at the stated height or could they match the old part??

It’s up to the householder.
Part M is just an attempt to standardise new builds.

Depends if the extension was under building control supervision. Then it depends, in my experience, on the personal opinion of the BCO.

Is that ground level or finished floor level?

Depends if the extension was under building control supervision. Then it depends, in my experience, on the personal opinion of the BCO.

If they were to insist on socket heights like that, they should also require the other items in part M
doors of wheelchair width
access ramps
etc
etc
Part M only applies to HABITABLE ROOMS in VISITABLE DWELLINGS

a Summer House is not a HABITABLE ROOM as defined in Building Regulations.
Part M defines a habitable room as a room used, or intended to be used, for dwelling purposes including a kitchen but not a bathroom or utility room.

A "dwelling" is defined as
A self-contained building or part of a building used as a residential accommodation, and usually housing a single household.
A dwelling may be a house, bungalow, flat, maisonette or converted farm building.
(Not a summer house then)

So, planning or not, any BC geezer that tries on the 450mm socket stuff can get raffled. I know, I have defeated them on this exact point.
