Hi chaps , been testing some pc set ups. Each station has a pc supplied with a standard 3 pin iec , and a monitor with a standard 3 pin iec.

Been testing the cords separate for earth continuity, insulation and polarity. Then i connect cords and then test again, pc for earth bond at 100mA, insulation at 250 then touch test, then monitor tft for insulation, then touch test. (cant get good earth bond as majority plastic)..

So in all four tests per station.

Would you carry out the same tests or more/less???

Cheers

Hi entech, I would do similar to you, but I would not carry out a Touch Current test after a successful Insulation test on the PC or monitor.
The Touch Current test is often referred to as a substitute soft test, because it is usually used when an insulation test cannot be performed or gives suspect results. Because the Touch Current test is a powered test it should always be preceded by an Insulation test.
There is nothing wrong in doing the Touch Current test in addition to an Insulation test, but you may save yourself time and two tests per PC system.
When you are testing in a commercial or industrial setting with hundreds or thousands of items, every minute saved is valuable, particularly if the job is priced piece-rate.
