Hi guys, I'm having an issue with a tire machine I was called too.

The machine won't reverse. I replaced the original switch with a new one. I can get it going forward but no reverse but I can wire it to make it drive forward on both switches.

Is this me being stupid and no connecting back into the switch properly or is this a fault in the machine?

does it have a forward contactor and a reverse contactor, and the reverse one is faulty or not energising. had this once with a cardboard crusher. was a snapped wire on the contactor coil terminal. took me 4 hours to find as it was intermittent. machine vibration made it make then break.

When you say tyre machine we do not have much info, there are many machines that are involved with making tyres, repairing them and disposing of them so can you be more specific.

If you are discussing a machine that are used to repair tyres that remove it from the wheel then help fit it back on then they tend to be pedal controlled, what is this switch you are talking of?

Without a schematic of some nature we also will be making assumptions here and this could lead to the wrong advice and in some cases it could be a safety risk or damage the machine so the more advice or even the schematics themselves will reduce the risk of unintentional bad advice.

Finally before moving forward with advice, can you confirm you are insured to work on machinery controls, if you have not declared this to your insurance then it is likely you are not under a standard insurance policy, you will know if you are because there is several hundred pounds difference in the insurance policies.
