Why are you shocked to find a radial circuit? It's a perfectly valid type of circuit.

A lack of bonding will not be cause of this, but bonding could make the symptom disappear.

i know radials are fine(didn't explain correctly) it is just a radial that covers the whole house including kitchen and the boiler(3 bed terrace), the only other circuit is lighting. maybe saying shocked was over reaction.

Talking of Drummond testers did you know they now do a LED type. Red LEDs come on to indicate voltage and the 415 Led is blue. It also has buttons to press to make it low impedance. Good bit of kit and much more robust than the filament model. But a bit pricy at £80.

When you say the Whole house is on 1 circuit and it's a radial, unsure of what you mean abd how you have come to this odd conclusion.

ok sorry, there are two circuits one is lighting, the radial supports the whole house and i assumed with all that load they would of had some issues by now? if i was to upgrade the DB i think we would get problem tripping? anyhow i wont be upgrading until i can split some circuits and even it all out.

What size Fuses do you have and what are on the circuit that isn't a alighting point? seems very strange to have a lighting circuit and another circuit for every thing else Plugs, cooker heating Water heating, etc, are you sure you have your facts right? sounds iffy to me to be honest with you.
Can't see the point of upgrading a CU with only 2 circuits. sounds like you need some professional advice from an Electrician before you go rewiring things Mate.

where in Northampton are you could take a look at your electrics if you want free of course.

It is at my inlaws opposite the cricket ground. the whole house is on a wylex 30A rewireable fuse wire? i am going to add circuits for the cellar so will need to upgrade anyway. there is another 30A radial circuit but this only supports one socket which i have identified, all power is on the other circuit? they have a gas cooker so no problem there. thanks for your time on this.
