Hi Daz,

Its entirely up to you if you charge or not. If you are doing a major installation then the cost will be swallowed up in the cost, but if its just a few alterations then charge what you think is reasonable.

Anything from 20-40 would be about right, considering you should be issuing certs anyway and it only takes a few mins online to do the notification.

Cheers for the reply

Was gonna charge £20 for a minor and then another £20 if needs notifying to building control so sounds about right I think (hopefully).

Its really hard going when you are starting up isnt it !!

i normally add another 15-30 pound for certs depending on the length(i wish i payed extra for the megger that uses powersuite)
i tell the customer that i'll inform building control for free (out of the goodness of my heart!)
it only costs 2 quid so no problem

Hi Daz
how did the NIC assessment go eg questions ? also with doc p what copy do you have ? as in date.
cheers.

All your work needs to be certed anyway, pick a flat fee and add to cost of all jobs, about £500 should cover your certs - just lol

If I ain't wired it I charge £50.00 per circuit, average test is about £400. If I have wired it is not included and comes with the job, in reality about 30 quid for a kitchen, or 50 quid for a full rewire...nothing really

I don't get many testing jobs, though i get many enquiries...I have done few however, really I don't want them, especially if I don't know the spark whom has wired. Hence I charge a fortune for unknowns. I have done one or two, where my notes indicate unsatisfactory, they pay for results not a 'pass'. Some get grumpy. Yet the results stand and still are passed off by council chiefs, they just want the paper, they don't even read them
