i am a spark near glasgow i subby at moment for company but would also like to start up on my own say domestic work any other in the glasgow/lanarkshire trying this to?

Im from yorkshire so i dont know the climate up your way but id say wait as long as you can. I started on my own last april as i had no choice after being laid off from subbying. The first 8 weeks or so was a waste of time, i was only getting a couple of days a week and that was through extended family etc.
theres no harm however in putting out some feelers while youre still subbying. you get 500 flyers designed and printed for not too much, spend a saturday distributing them around an area of houses from the 1960/70s saying you will do periodics for £75. you can do anything that comes in on a saturday and will mke your money off the corrections and alterations. youre bound to find unearthed metal fittings. just make sure you get a good bit booked in before you leave the relative safety of subbying.
Have you thought about your Part P?

Is that what your charging for a PIR. Say you don't get remedials or there are none needed, would you look on this a a "loss leader"

It's not what I would charge but theres a difference between me making my living and this lad doing a bit of donkey work to get a bit of word of mouth going. Notice I said on saturdays, £75 for a saturday morning aint that horrific.

So 75 notes for a PIR do you think that will cover his expenses for insurance, derv/petrol, test equipment and calibration, completing the paperwork, if it's a 4-6 circuit board then perhaps 4-5 hours work depending on what he finds.............
