Where should I get my Megger calibrated?

Would be grateful for some advice, my Megger 1553 calibration certificate runs out at the end of April, I assume you don't have to send it off to Megger HQ in Dover, can anyone recommend any companies that do this sort of thing, I am based in Hampshire if it makes any difference.

Try Yell.com for calibration services in your local area it worked for me

If you are using a calibration box or cal card you dont need to have it calibrated for another two years. When I had my NICEIC assessment assessor stated that providing readings were ok it was every three years.

So give your competent person scheme a ring and see what they say. No point in spending money if you dont have to

I use this crowd for mine ServiceCal - UKAS accredited - calibration and repair laboratory but if you're not near Manchester then they're no good fot you.

For info, I have phoned Elecsa (who I'm registered with) and as a domestic installer I do need to get my MFT calibrated annually.

Which part of the country are you in?
There are 2 companies local to me doing cal's on MFT's for less than £40 all in. But i am in Leeds.

Elecsa are giving you incorrect information and I quote

'There is no requirement under BS 7671 or NICEIC requirements for yearly calibration unless the instrument become less than 95% accurate or the manufactures instructions require it'.

I use a callibration checkbox with monthly reports

Incidentally, I left Elecsa and moved to NIC. The difference has been remarkable, far more enquiries from customers who can relate to a professional organisation and I have nothing but praise for their staff and scheme. For the same money as Elecsa, NIC is well worth it. Proper ID and JIB cards to instill confidence in the customer as well.

This link is to an official partner of the Nic, you could have a look here to get some answers on why to have the calibration done in the first place, what the interval should be and how much it is to have your meter done by them.

Most electrical wholesalers can get them done for you, I know Edmundson can.

I agree with you on calibration intervals but it's no good quoting from a different scheme provider's 'partner' when the OP is not part of that scheme!

Anyway, your link states:

Checkboxes were never intended to replace an annual calibration check. They are intended to be used to confirm on-going accuracy between your annual calibration. Most checkboxes only have a very limited number of values that can be used to check against, compare this to the whole list of readings that you receive from a calibration laboratory who will be checking your equipment on calibrators which costs many thousands of pounds.

40 is really really good! Iv just paid £90 :-l and it failed and is en route to megger! :-( gutted as iv only had it 9 months. Just bought a check box so thought I'd better get the mft calibrated so I know it's good for the check box but it failed. great haha suppose it stresses the needs for check boxes!
