And remember Trigger from Fools and Horses Look after your broom.......................................................................................

In other words abuse your test gear and you will constantly updating them I have had my 2 Fluke 70s for the past 22 years and I had a amp probe the same age until a clown of a customer dropped it

In response to the original post, you don't "need" a PAT qualification (I do have them), and I do all the PAT testing for the entire county's Police Force and have NEVER been asked if I have a qualification, let alone to see it... There happy enough that I'm an electrician.
And I never wanted to PAT either, sort of had no choice, so I kept biding on testers on eBay until I got a Kewtech KT-71 cheap, had it calibrated, Bobs your uncle!
And I'm using "PAT" cause I like it! And I don't like "ISIATOEA". Oh man I've just realised that I've been around the Police to long, I'm starting to use acronyms way to much!!!

The reason why I got C&G 2377 was because PAT testing companies were telling letting agents and landlords that if you did not have it then you could not do it an yes I am aware this is a lot of tosh but they sell themselves as the specialists plus they have been allowed to build the urban myths around PAT such as it is only portable equipment that needs testing and you must by law have it done every year yes tosh tosh tosh but such is the state of the industry that they appear to be dictating what goes on also because I had to get into it I was going to do it right or not do it at all plus letting agents and landlords said they wanted a copy of my PAT qualifications. So when it came to selecting a PAT tester I bought the one that suited my business ie not doing a lot of items not doing it every day so a asset based scanner unit and battery unit was out for me hence why I went for the KT71 bundle as it worked out well for cost and all in a good case because thats what you need as I see a lot of macho guys chuck their testers in the back of the van the same way they chuck their tools in then they wonder why its broken after 3 years. When I bought my MFT I thought spend the extra £60 and get the bluetooth function what a waste of time and money that was for me so lesson learned buy what you need and if your business gets bigger then trade in for not something that is better but something that suits.

As I said I bought the KT71 bundle and I am very happy as for making leads up most of them came in the bundle only thing that did not come with it was the adaptor to test the new type laptop lead but got one from fleabay for £4 . Also adapted the PAT docs in word format and save them to PDF then email them so if you want a copy pm me your company name and email.

Also forgot to add to you get a microwave tester ? as I got one to add to this service and include it in the service I provide and so far I am on track for it to pay for itself in its first year

KT71 will do what you want it to do Trevor....you will need to make up 3 phase commandos ..16A and 32A for testing....well... 3 phase current using equipment.....you will need 2 of each....one in delta..the other in star...
