I have 35 to 40 year old 230v 3 phase motors that run sanding, grinding operations.
Can I run them on a 208 volt 3 phase system?
Hi Bill and welcome to the forum yes I have wired 3 phase motors rated at 240 vac on 208 vac, I’ve wired 4 ton HVAC units rated at 240vac on 3 phase 208 vac and never had no problems. Let us know what you come up with and good luck

Hi,you will have to explain,if the 208 volts,is a product of generation,transformer supply,or a volt drop issue.

208V is one of the standard 3-phase voltages in the US, it's the line voltage on a 3-phase Y system with 120V hot-neutral. Unlike the UK where we only use Y supplies, their edge-grounded delta system that supplies 120-0-120 split phase also gives 240V 3-phase with the addition of a high leg. So equipment is made for both 208 and 240V.
