I've been having issues with my dining room lights flickering and light switches working intermittently. After taking off the switch covers, I didn't need to be an electrician to see stuff was wrong. There were exposed wires, red wires attached to black wires, black to white, and so on. I've disconnected everything and would like help on the correct way to wire all these switches. I've attached a rudimentary drawing of where the power comes in, what wires are present and where then go to when they leave the box. There is two 3 way switches and a 4 way switch that are supposed to control the middle light. There is a single pole switch that controls the light to the left, where the power enters. And there is a single pole that controls an outside light at the bottom. I am certain on all of the wires. I tested all wires to determine which one is the line wire. And then I tested for continuity to determine where they all went to. Please help me wire this all up correctly. Thank you.

If this previously functioned then this indicates that it was wired correctly and the fact you had whites and blacks connected together may not have been an error. Your drawing is of little help as to how it was connected and unless you know how it was originally connected it may have been foolish to disconnect it all.

It did not function correctly. That was the point of this. Lights flickered, and switches only worked in certain configurations. For example, if one was up then another wouldn't work or vice versa.
