Hi all,

Can someone help me please. I am trying to wire up a 2 smoke alarms to the lighting circuit. I can't wire to the light fitting as there is no constant live so need to add to the switch.

I have connected to the switch which gives power to the alarms but as the switch is a 2way for hallway and landing lights, the upstairs light stays on and just dims when switched off. If I disconnect the neutral the light works fine but then the alarms don't have power.

A few pics are probably going to help.

Depending on how the 2 way circuit is wired there may not be a permanant live at the switch you have chosen to connect to

I don’t think you’ve got a neutral at your switch.

As others above, I think you've probably got Red Yellow and Blue conductors at the switch and incorrectly assumed Blue to be Neutral which of course it isn't on a 2way circuit.
