Thanks for your reply @Murdoch,

I'm not sure of any scheme or logo's, I can ask him when I call him next. I'm from Northampton.

Going back to how to resolve this, from what it sounds, is this a big bodge up? will I need another electrician to rewire the whole thing? or is it easy to fix? I'm worried now I need more money to fix all this.. :(

Surely his paperwork states this?

Did you get any certification?
Did you get an invoice?
Did you get Part P notification

Re your location - why do you say "london" when you are in Northampton?

I already feel sick as it is @ipf, if I give out the figure I think i'm just going to faint, could you tell me what an average charge would be to change this to this new one?

Obviously without seeing it I can’t tell but I can do some tests if you want us to have a look. Won’t take long to test

I'll have a check tomorrow at the paperwork @Murdoch, I originally am from London but it's at my mum's place in Northampton where they fitted this

Presuming it was just to change the consumer unit, with the RCBO's, 450-500 ish, I would imagine. Depends exactly what he did.

That is Wylex ........... so the bill was probably closer to £625
Maybe. Top of my head and presuming no probs.

Thanks @camerabloke, I'll get back to you soon.

Honestly the community here is 100% strong, I had posted on another forum, and they were telling me that it's one of my speakers were faulty...honestly goes to show that some electricians like yourselves know what your doing and some don't have a clue. I'm definitely not giving him any more money, however, I can breathe a bit knowing that I hopefully wasn't completely ripped off...It was £600.

Do you know how much more it would be to fix this in my position?, I appreciate your offers to come and help, but honestly need to keep some money aside to fix this mess.

That is almost impossible to say.

My thoughts are site visit to use my earth leakage clamp meter and almost certainly swap the hot tub on to a RCBO

Why the lights are on a MCB needs investigation - and hence why what the "spark" wrote on the certificate may be enlightening...

I'd suggest no hot tubbing for a while, then...;)
