Is this a troll post?
An EICR is a report on an installation
A MWC is a certificate to confirm changes or replacements to existing circuits ...
An EIC covers new circuits ...
What exactly did you do?
Yours is a troll post.Is this a troll post?
The existing shower circuit wasn't RCD protected so replaced the shower isolator with a 1 way consumer unit which had an RCD.
Why an EIC, because I have added the RCD?An EIC .....
You can not use an EICR to certificate changes to an installation
I accidentally typed EICR instead of EIC, I'm not trying to certify it with an EICR, just wondering if the above work I did would be an EIC or MWCAn EIC .....

OK..Thanks.You have terminated an existing circuit into a sub fuseboard and added a new circuit .....
Hence the EIC and of course part p notification ...
So you altered an already existing circuit correct? MNW can I clarify my comment and explain my conclusions, before the keyboard warriors rip me to shreds?Shower isolator had burned out and was faulty.

PS I'm assuming the shower isolator was a wall mounted unit, NOT a ceiling switch. So you altered an already existing circuit correct? MNW can I clarify my comment and explain my conclusions, before the keyboard warriors rip me to shreds?
My thoughts are that the OP has replaced the damaged Shower isolator with a 1 way CU incorporating a RCD, he has not wired a new circuit, neither has he changed the CU at least that's how I understand what he has done. Perhaps I have miss read, but I don't think so, awaiting the deluge of abuse.
Going with that analogy Wilko, if and I say if the OP had swapped the shower switch with a RCD / FSU instead of a small CU, would that not be similar, or the same as using a CU, after all, all he is doing is fusing down via the CB and adding a RCD? it's an imponderable I guess, which can/could argued either way, well that's how I tend to see it.Hi - the new "one way consumer unit which had an RCD" also had an MCB in it? This means (to me) there are now two circuits where there was one, each with its own earth loop and ADS times to be met.
Just like some TV detective show we need a Poirot type or the Guys from Hunting HitlerOh dear, thought I had a handle on this one ... more to think about.
Lateral thinking Wilko.Oh dear, thought I had a handle on this one ... more to think about.
Really bizzare..putting an RCD on a shower when there wasn't one there before..what was I thinking??Overall it seems a bizarre thing to have done.
You haven't wired a new circuit, you have altered an existing circuit MNWThis is a EIC in my opinion. The supply to the shower isolator is now a distribution circuit.
Also the shower isolator did not burn out because there was no RCD installed.
I agree, what were you thinking. Straight forward replacement switch with a departure on the Minor Works additional rcd protection not provided, existing circuit.Really bizzare..putting an RCD on a shower when there wasn't one there before..what was I thinking??

Sorry but I like to add an RCD if it's possible.I agree, what were you thinking. Straight forward replacement switch with a departure on the Minor Works additional rcd protection not provided, existing circuit.

No comment Wilko, rest easyOooo now you've done it![]()

What would you enter on this EIC then as work done?EIC according to the NIC! Thanks for your replies.
Why?
At a guess "because it needs RCD Protection"Why?
I know, what's that got to do with my post though? An EIC is not just for new circuits.
At a guess "because it needs RCD Protection"
He never said that. He said "where ever possible".
Are you referring to post 28 "i would like to add an RCD if it's possible"He never said that. He said "where ever possible".
