Hi guys, first time poster, be easy!
I'm caring for a friend and last night while sleeping on the sofa-bed an emergency system that had lost power was sending out a warning signal. Startling to say the least. The RCD had tripped and after some internet sleuthing I managed to isolate the...
Hey all , customer rang last night, full house tripping .. can I come out ( after hours ) ... Got there for 6pm .. ran tests and discovered a dead short on the upstairs lights ... Went in to attic to discover what I can only describe as SPEAKER CABLE wiring up a lighting circuit consisting of 6...
I'm fairly certain the answer is yes. But I've drilled a hole for an LED downlight and unfortunately it's busy with cables. Moving it will be a hassle due to the spacing of the other lights, just before I do - are the LED lights somehow such low temp that I could in fact just keep it here...
Last week, I was thinking to myself what would a Last Christmas rewrite be like?
“Last Christmas, the world was OK.....
But a couple months pass, Covid’s here to stay”
Yes. Songwriting isn’t my forte.... singing or playing instruments... Karaoke is no go for me....
The radio has just started...
Hi, i was given measurements from the tenant and they happemed to be slighty wrong. Now iv already ran cables and the plasterer has already done his job. Looking at the pictures the tenant sent me, the accessorries seem a little close to the hob. What can be done now? Do you think its ok as it...
I’ve seen 3 or 4 quotes for cu changes in the last few month from other electrical firms
some on here and some during my working week
In general, for a standard 10way dual board seems around £500-550 (mostly plus vat too)
im only charging £375(No vat) for a 10 way, about £400 for a 16 way...
Hello all,
Just wondering if my en-suite is wired correctly .
There is a timed extraction fan and bathroom light in there .
There is an isolator switch outside the door. When you turn off the isolator the light stops working too.
Is this correct?
Should the isolator not stop the fan only and...
It's been a few years since I did a thankyou thread..... so here's another one.
I still miss the 'thanks' button @Dan (wink smiley)
Let's mention which members we think stands out as particularly helpful on a regular basis...
I can't choose @Richard Burns this time as he is taking an extended...
I'd like to install a new bathroom light. The new light has simple press and insert connections.
The old light (since it is connected to a bathroom fan as well) has 3 neutral cores, 3 earth cores and 2 (or maybe 3?) earth cores.
I know they won't fit into the new press and insert connection -...
The go to nowadays seems to be to install 3x Ring circuits, upstairs, downstairs, kitchen however I recently tested a three bed house that had every socket bar one on a 20A breaker, on this circuit was a bathroom 13A fan heater too. Tenant has lived there for 13 years never had anything trip...
I'm old school and usually install RFC in domestics - downstairs ring and upstairs ring - old dog, new tricks and all that. However my eyes have been opened and see the benefits of radials, especially when it comes to small extensions.
Friend of friend, has small(ish) extension, bedroom...
Hi I hope someone might be able to offer some advice to a DIYer?
So I've been using my dishwasher for years and only just noticed the cable is getting hot, enough to feel very hot to touch. Only at one point for about 3 inches back from the plug (a moulded plug)
I've read around and found the...
Who could dismantle and remove a large fridge freezer? The previous owners left it when they vacated and it has now broken. Our kitchen is in the basement and we think the stairs were replaced after the fridge was moved in as it now will not fit out by a long way
Hello, Is one circuit for kitchen sockets enough, the circuit will include, 1xfrigde freezer, 1xextractor hood, 1x13a induction hob 1xwashing machine and 1xdishwasher then just usual sockets for kettle, microwave and toaster etc.
Saw this post from Business For Scotland (a pro indy business website) and I thought it was bonkers at first look.

Once I read through it I noticed that someone on £26,500 a year would be £17k better off than...
