Discuss 18th Edition main Changes, Domestic installer video. in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

A video I stumbled upon for the main changes a domestic installer has outlined.

Question:
Can someone clarify, plastic Rawl plugs are not to be used now, due to fire regulations.

What would you use in exchange for your day to day fixings now?
dewalt walldog screws they dont need a plug and can go in the wall on there own. You can still use them and interspace with other fixings.
Alternatively if in trunking use them as you do now but add some firefly clips in to prevent premature collapse at regular intervals.

I had not seen the firefly clips before, is this a work around to make plastic trunking viable still due to updated fire regs?

Also something I have been thinking is using metal saddles for plastic conduit... the metal saddle would prevent the cables collapsing in the event the plastic conduit itself melted and collapsed. could use as an alternative to plastic ones. again use the walldog screws.

Plastic wall plugs are fine, and will still be fine in February next year, anyone for compliance with BS 7671, anyone who says otherwise is simply wrong.

unlike the cinema experience lol
Got to agree with posts 9 & 10 excellent video this is what the NICEIC cinema should have been like.

You can get white metal saddles.
